It occurred to me today that I have a lot left to do – 13/30!
I figured in this update I would let you know about all of the things I’ve tried lately.
Someone asked me today what I’m going to do about things that were on my list but I was unable to complete (items that come to mind… buying shares, visiting the ice cream factory, etc.). After thinking long and hard about it – I’ve decided to count them.
One of the hardest things about DOING something is STARTING it! I think that after taking the initiative and asking the right people the right questions… what else could I do?
I think it would be ridiculous if I ended up with 35 or 40 items on my 30 item list because I kept adding things when I was unable to complete something.
(Anything that I’ve tried and failed at is now RED with a strikeout)
(Items In Progress are Blue)
HERE WE GO
BUCKET LIST ITEM #17 – “RIDE ON A MOTORCYCLE”
This was a strange one to have on my list. Is it strange that until September 26th, 2012 (YESTERDAY!) I had never been on a motorcycle?
After my ride-along with Sgt. Hayward … I got an exciting email in response to my “Thank You”. Not only did he follow up on my blog post (probably looking to see what kind of dirt I wrote about my quiet Saturday night in a police car) but he offered to help with another item on my list!
I think that I actually started vibrating at my desk. My co-worker, Geoff, was the reason this was on my list… so naturally I yelled across the office that it was going to HAPPEN.
Here is a photo of Glenn’s sweet Harley Davidson and an embarrassing/badass photo of me.
Riding on a motorcycle was awesome. I loved the wind in my hair. I loved people watching and I loved taking in the views without windows.
BUCKET LIST ITEM #11 – “BUILD A PIECE OF FURNITURE”
I’ve been going through ideas in my mind for one of our spare rooms.
Basically, Adam and I live in a three bedroom bungalow. There’s a large bedroom – that’s ours. There are two smaller rooms. Both would barely fit a double bed.
One of the rooms is used as an office/computer/recording room, complete with desk, CDs, amps and “recording devices”. The other is still used as a catch-all. Adam had the closet full of guitar cases and I have the top shelf filled with board games. A dresser holds all of our linens. 2 bookshelves hold our books.
I want to turn the catch-all room into a room capable of housing guests.
What pieces of furniture would work with this concept? Is a headboard considered a piece of furniture?
BUCKET LIST ITEM #12 – “SHOOT A GUN”
After contacting the local “gun club” and speaking with everyone I know that owns a rifle…. this isn’t going to happen.
I’m OK with it.
BUCKET LIST ITEM #25 – “VISIT EVERY ART GALLERY IN THE CITY AND PUT MY FAVOURITE PIECE ON AWAY”
After a failed Gallery Hop attempt and extreme laziness… this isn’t done.
Although I do know what piece I’m ging to put on “layaway” – or “art to own” as I like to call it.
I think I will keep this a secret for now!
BUCKET LIST ITEM #26/27 – “SEND 50 HANDWRITTEN NOTES TO PEOPLE I TALK TO ALL THE TIME/NEVER TALK TO”
So far people seem to be enjoying the handwritten notes I’ve been sending along. I’m finding that some postcards are easier to write than others.
I mean, what do you even say to a boy?
“Hey. I heard the new _____ record”
“Hey. How is your girlfriend?”
It’s actually not that bad.
I’m 12 or 13 postcards in. That seems like so many… but 37 remaining is DAUNTING. Thank goodness I like my friends and enjoy sending NOTES!
Thanks for following along! There are 20.5 days left in my #30in90 challenge! Plenty of time, right?
Want to bake a pie with me this weekend?
